Grinding and Tuck Pointing of Brick, Stone, and CMU block (Cement Masonry Units)

Grinding is the process of removing old mortar joints using a grinder (hand operated power tool), usually equipped with a diamond tipped blade. This work is required when old mortar joints are washed out or defective. Grinding provides space for new mortar to be applied.

Tuck pointing is the process of replacing the old mortar joints in the masonry wall with new mortar. Re-tuck pointed walls gain structural integrity; impermeability (resistance to moisture) is increased, and this process also improves the visual appearance of your wall.
